Looking for a fun, flexible volunteer opportunity? If you have some time to spare and a desire to share your love of learning, READ can use you as a tutor. Our tutors work with children and adults in a wide variety of subject areas including reading, math and English.
No teaching experience is required – just enthusiasm! Tutors receive free training and all the materials and supplies they need. We hold tutor training and roundtable discussions several times a year at the La Porte County Public Library.
Most tutors volunteer an hour or two per week at a time of their choosing. All tutors must receive a background check and submit an application. Tutors can meet with their students at a La Porte County Public Library branch, a school or another community site.
